Magikland As First Outdoor Theme Park In The Visayas

The theming of MAGIKLAND is based on local folklore and legend, adapting the legend of the Bakunawa (the moon-eating dragon) to make it more modern and fun, while still paying respect to local culture. The main mascot of the park is Bakunawa the dragon himself — now in a more friendly, happy form. Together with Bakunawa are the four child-warriors who are the champions of Magikland. The children, whose names pay homage to the local landscape, are: Boy Bakunawa, Mara Marapara, Pat Patag, and Kit Kanlaon. Theming and storylines throughout the park will highlight local stories, culture, and history.

Magikland CHARACTERS

MAGIKLAND LOGO STORY

The Magikland Logo features three dominant symbols: a dragon, the moon, and a mountain range.

BAKUNAWA

These represent, firstly: Bakunawa, the moon-eating dragon of Philippine myth and legend, who devoured six of the seven moons in the heavens, angering the god Bathala and striking fear in the hearts of the people. Magikland reimagines the old legend, with Bakunawa functioning instead as a protector and ally of the forces of good in this modern day and age.

THE MOON

Secondly, the moon in Magikland’s logo is both a tribute to the old legend and a representation of the moon in our skies today, as it shines down on our land and brings us light in the dark.

MT. KANLAON

Finally, the mountains are representative of Negros’ Kanlaon mountain range. The highest point in Negros as well as the whole Visayas, Mt. Kanlaon reminds us of the grandeur of our rich, native land.
The main colour of Magikland is yellow, representing happiness and laughter. Complementing the bright, dominant yellow are: orange, red, and green, which are bright yet earthy colours that reflect the beauty of our land. The name “Magikland” itself is spelled out in a custom typeface that features bold edges and aims to encapsulate the whimsy that the park aims to bring to the people.
Together, these elements capture the wonder and honour and celebrate our rich history while revelling in the excitement and beauty of the present day.
